Inspired by PM Shri Narendra Modi's Poshan Abhiyan, Amma Kosam is dedicated to improving maternal health and nutrition.
In its inaugural year the initiative distributed 800 nutrition kits to pregnant women and lactating mothers. Each kit contained protein powder, hemoglobin syrup, dates, fibre biscuits, peanut chikki and toys — provided completely free of charge.
When district officials attempted to halt a distribution in Malkajgiri in August 2023, Sai Prasad maintained the programme was a private citizen's charity to individuals and continued the seva. The initiative is held annually to support mothers and children.
